Monitoring print server activity
You can monitor print server activity using the Print Server Activity window, the Queue Monitor, and print server log.
Viewing the Print Server Activity window
To view the Print Server Activity window:

Open the Apple menu and choose AppleShare IP Admin, then choose Print Admin. |

The Print Server Activity window is always visible when the Print Admin program is open. |
The Print Server Activity window displays the following information:

Server Status: Whether the print server is running |
• |
Queue Name: A list of the server's print queues |

Click the triangle next to a queue name to see a list of the printers attached to that queue. |

Jobs: The number of jobs currently being printed on each queue ("in queue") |
• |
Printers: The number of printers attached to each queue |
• |
Status: If the item is a queue, the status show whether the queue is operating normally or there's a problem. If the item is a printer, the status indicates whether the printer is idle, has an error, and so on. |
Viewing the Queue Monitor
To view the Queue Monitor:

Select a queue in the Print Server Activity window, then click the Show Queue Monitor button. |

Chose an option from the Show menu (Printing Jobs, Waiting Jobs, On Hold Jobs) if you do not want to see information about all print jobs for that queue. |
You can see the following information in the Queue Monitor window:

Each print job in the queue |
• |
The user who sent the job |
• |
The printer to which the job is assigned |
Viewing the print server and queue logs
You can view a log of print server activities, a log for all print queues, or a log for a specific print queue.
To view a log:

Open the Apple menu and choose AppleShare IP Admin, then choose Print Admin. |

Click the Show Log button. |

Choose a log to view (Print Server, All Queues, or a specific queue) from the Show Log For menu. |

If you wish, save, print, or clear entries by clicking the appropriate button in the log window. |
